چکیده

Using a bioeconomic model of a coral reef-mangrove-seagrass system, we 1 analyze the dynamic path of incentives to achieve an efficient transition to the steady state 2 levels of fish biomass and mangrove habitat conservation. Our model nests different types 3 of species habitat dependency and allows for changes in the extent of habitat to affect the 4 growth rate and the long-run fish level. We solve the two-control, two-state non-linear opti5 mal control problem numerically and compute the input efficiency frontier characterizing the 6 tradeoff between mangrove habitat and fish population. After identifying the optimal locus 7 on the frontier, we determine the optimal transition path to the frontier from a set of initial 8 conditions to illustrate the necessary investments. Finally, we demonstrate how dynamic con9 servation incentives (payments for ecosystem services) for a particular habitat with multiple 10 services are interdependent, change over time, and can be greater than contemporaneous 11 fishing profits when the ecosystem is degraded. 12

Evaluating the Correlation Between Pollination Ecosystem Service and Landscape Pattern metrics (Case Study: Qazvin Province)

Pollination is an ecological service with high economic values related to human and ecological wellbeing. This study aims to evaluate the correlation between landscape complexity and pollination service (bee) in Qazvin province at the landscape scale. Landscape pattern metrics (Number of Patches (NP), Patch Richness (PR), Edge Density (ED), and Shannon Index (H)), as a proxy of landscape comple...

Ecosystem services and economic theory: integration for policy-relevant research.

It has become essential in policy and decision-making circles to think about the economic benefits (in addition to moral and scientific motivations) humans derive from well-functioning ecosystems. The concept of ecosystem services has been developed to address this link between ecosystems and human welfare. Since policy decisions are often evaluated through cost-benefit assessments, an economic...

Effects of the land use change on ecosystem service value

The impacts of land utilization change on the ecosystem service values in Daqing during 1995 to 2015 were analyzed based on unit area ecosystem service value of Chinese territorial ecosystem from Mr. Xie Gaodi and ecosystem service value calculation formula from Costanza. Results showed that the ecosystem service value of Daqing decreased from US $4343.1559m in 1995 to US $3824.327m in 2015, wi...

Social-Ecological Dynamics of Ecosystem Services: Livelihoods and the Functional Relation between Ecosystem Service Supply and Demand—Evidence from Socotra Archipelago, Yemen and the Sahel Region, West Africa

In aiming to halt global biodiversity loss, it is essential to address underlying societal processes. The concept of ecosystem services claims to bridge between biodiversity and society. At the same time there is a considerable research gap regarding how ecosystem services are provided, and how societal activities and dynamics influence the provision of ecosystem services. Interactions and depe...

Yet, it has proven difficult to move ...
